I love Amelia Peabody Emerson books. She is so funny, and she doesn't even know it. I enjoy the character development, the intimate knowledge of Egypt, the mystery, and the comedy of it all. Very romantic and full of adventure, they are very diverting and fun to read.
Great read. I love all the Amelia Peabody novels.

Lots of fun to read. I read this book over and over, along with the other originals in the series.
Amelia is at it again and back in Egypt! It is the turn of the century (1900). This time she and husband/partner, Emerson have their son, Ramses, 'daughter' Nefret, and her sister and brother-in-law, Evelyn and Walter involved in this intrigue! And YES they find a new tomb. WooHoo!!! And not just ONE criminal element but TWO are after it (Peabody calls them the Hippopotami and the Jackels). The plot is complex and it will keep the reader on the edge of their seats. A real page turner. And if you like cats.....(I won't say more!)

The Amelia Peabody mysteries are always a treat, and this is no exception.
I highly recommend the entire Amelia Peabody series.
I love Elizabeth Peters' books. This is another wonderful Amelia Peabody mystery. Great fun to read.
A fun mystery, set in the 19th century. An English lady, Amelia Peabody, and her husband track down grave robbers in a "Victorian" fashion. If you like the atmosphere in Sherlock Holmes stories, you may care for these as well.
Archaeologists Amelia Peabody and Radcliffe Emerson, their son Ramses, and ward Nefret are preparing to excavate a possible tombsite along the river Nile. The undertaking was prefaced by a strange encounter with a mysterious stranger who died of poisoning before their meeting was over. The Emersons attribute all of this to Signor Ricetti, kingpin of illicit antiquities trading. Then Ramses is kidnapped and Nefret is also put at risk -- will Amelia and Radcliffe be able to protect their family and the ancient tomb?
