I didn't think she could do better than her first, but Eve has definitely hooked me again with this story. Her heroes are always so dark and tortured AND steaming hot. I can't wait for her next novel in August!

Excellent! I loved gothic romances when I was younger, and this is a fresh take on a classic genre. A compelling story with a very sensual overtone kept the pages turning for me.

Very good read. Quite mysterious. Thought the ending was "chopped" a bit, but still very good.

This dark and suspenseful historical romance will leave you on the edge of your seat! This book is by the author of Dark Desires. I look forward to more novels from this author.

Although this book caught my attention right away it couldn't keep it. Not one of her best.
A gothic love story, saint, sinner, or cold blooded killer.
As a "new" Gothic in the old style, I found this book really fun! Had a bit of Jane Austen's NORTHANGER ABBEY in the sense that the heroine, Emma, when first brought on a wild stormy night to the dark castle/manor house, sees evil around every corner -- which often turns out to be something quite benign! The Bluebeard-like Lord of the Manor, who may have killed all the governesses preceding Emma, is one mystery she takes upon herself to solve. When her inherent practicality kicks in, the story takes a JANE EYRE turn, and after some harrowing adventures with Lord Craven -- her patience and smarts bring the story to a satisfying conclusion. Sweet!
Set high atop a hill, Manorbrier Castle is shrouded in darkness and savage rumors: No servant has ever survived for long...Stay away from the Round Tower.. There's death there.. And then there is the dark lord of the manor himself...a monster, they say, and a murder...
(not a vampire novel)

Reads like a gothic romance, told only from the heroine's point of view. I enjoyed it a lot and would give it a B rating. The ending was a bit over-dramatic for my tastes.
Gothic type historical romance. A bit of the macabre included. Held my attention
This book is definitely a Dark Gothic novel. The story is surrounded with mystery and horror with a touch of romance. From start to finish the twists and turns of this book keep you at the edge of your seat, page after page. Theirs no time to stop when you have to see what happens next. Then just when you think you know what's going to happen next you find out you were wrong all along.
The 1st of her books was quicker getting into this one just started off slow and boring for me but, once I got further into it a very good read! Her books are stand alones as far as I can tell and don't have to read in order!
