Can anyone suggest a good historical fiction book about Hawaii? I have read both Mitchner's Hawaii and Moloka'i. Just returned from a trip there and ready to learn more! |

I read Kaye Starbird's The Lion in the Lei Shop, a novel about the impact the bombing of Pearl Harbor had on military families. It's quite wonderful. Rose |

Perhaps a book about Hawaii's last queen, such as The Betrayal of Queen Liliuokalani, would interest you. Last Edited on: 3/22/14 7:17 PM ET - Total times edited: 1 |

Thanks, for these suggestions. Both sound interesting. |

Donna, You also might want to ask this question in the Historical Fiction forum. There are a lot of active historical fiction readers there. The author of Molokai wrote another book (not a sequel) called Honolulu. It was OK, but I found it a little far fetched. |

If you don't mind some actual history Around The World With A King by a guy named Armstrong is very interesting. It's even available on kindle. I bought my copy at a museum gift shop while I was in Hawaii many years ago. |
