Any student of history or WWII will love this different aspect of that horrible time. I honestly read the book in a matter of days. I could not put it down.

A very enlightening account of what it was like to live in Hitler's Germany as seen through the eyes of a child growing up in that era. Written in a very conversational and engaging tone; the book chronicles a few little known facts of the lives of civilian Germans during WWII.

Wonderful book! It was very interesting to hear a German's account of the war. I learned more about Berchtesgaden and Hitler from this book than I did actually visiting the Eagles Nest.
