If you don't care for Nora Roberts BUT love Mystery/Dark Thrillers with a side of romance and a dash of comedy - then I think you'll love J.D. Robb's ... In Death series written by Nora Roberts alter ego.
I won't go into the details of the books but will tell you this: Superb character development, continuity of the story line (which means you really need to read the books in order although they can stand alone) is top notch, the relationships that are webbed and weaved together throughout each page are phenomenal and let's the reader 'really' get to know the characters.
Here's a list of all the books in order (I'm leaving off the 'In Death' part):
1 Naked
2 Glory
3 Immortal
4 Rapture
5 Ceremony
6 Vengence
7 Holiday
7.5 Midnight in Death (Silent Night Anthology)

From Publishers Weekly
The year is 2058. Guns are banned and medical science has learned how to prolong life to well beyond the century mark. And man has yet to stop killing man. At Cop Central, it's Lieutenant Eve Dallas's job to stand up for the dead. So begins the seventh riveting installment in Robb's (aka Nora Roberts) futuristic romantic suspense series (following Vengeance in Death). With Christmas only weeks away, Eve is stressing out trying to find the right gift for her new husband, Rourke, who "not only had everything, but owned most of the plants and factories that made it." More to her concern is the latest serial killer who is using "The Twelve Days of Christmas" as a theme for his heinous rape and murder spree. The case touches Eve on a personal level, and while flash-backs from her abusive childhood are flinchingly repetitious, it defines Eve's gritty, hard-boiled character and validates her obsessive determination to bring down the killer any way she can.

Another really good story. I am a bit amused, though, that Eve is just exhausted and dragging at the end of each day, yet has such wild, yeehaw sex every night too. Maybe life will be different in the year 2058!

7th in the "in death series by j.d.robb/nora roberts! fabulous read...wonderful series!
Best series I have ever read. I cant put them down. This is Nora roberts as J.D. Robb. This is another story about Future cop Eve Dallas. Its not so out ther that its sci-fi. However the stories capture you and you cant wait for the next. I have 9-10 of these books and everyone is awsome if you like romance/mystery novels.
Another great Eve and Roarke story.
This was the first Eve Dallas I read, and it inspired me to find all the others. Great book in a great series!
No one likes to be alone during the holidays. For New York's most posh dating service, Personally Yours, it is the season to bring lonely hearts together. But Lt. Eve Dallas, on the trail of a ritualistic serial killer, enters an elite world of people searching for their one true love--and one killer searching for his next victim. Another great "In Death" book.
This is the 7th book in the futuristic detective series written by J. D. Robb / Nora Roberts.

Very different but entertaining series.
great thriller one of the in death series written by NORA ROBERTS WRITING AS J.D. ROBB
Futuristic policewoman investigates computer dating during the Christmas Holiday.
Liked this one alot as it was intertwined with a Christmas theme. Eve always gets the bad guys. You rock, Girl!
Good story that takes place around Christmas. Eve learns more about giving gifts and expressing love.
I love powerful Lt. Eve Dallas and how the complex New York City crimes are solved. If you don't wanna bite her husband, don't read these books! Nora Robert's best writing is as JD Robb in this "In Death" series of some 30+ stories to date. I collect all of the JD Robb books, but skip the Roberts, whose stories are not as tight as those about Lt. Eve Dallas - ass kicker! If the future of New York is like this, I fear these futuristic killers who are sneaky and complex.
I love this series. I'm glad there are so many and I'm only in the beginning.
I am currently re-reading the JD Robb series. This book as well of the series is adictive. I enjoy all of Nora Roberts/JD Robb's work!
I am addicted to this whole series so of course I loved it. I would recommend it to anyone who loves a godd paced mystery.
Can't get enough of Dallas
not one of my favorites in the "in death" series but as always a very enjoyable read
another great book in the "In Death" series
Good story
excellent book. excellent series
Great! Reading them all!!
Lt. Eve Dallas is investigating the brutal rape and murder of two woman. The killer is using "The Twelve Days of Christmas" as a theme to his murders. The victims common bond is they were both using the Personally Yours dating service. Eve asks Peabody and McNab to go under cover as patrons of the dating service, while she investigates the owners and tries to stop the killer from striking again.
This is one of my favorite in the series. Not only do we have a great mystery, but we get some funny scenes of Eve doing some Christmas shopping while McNab annoys Peabody. My rating: 5 Stars.

A freak body stylist goes weirdo. He starts a killing spree that Eve has to end before the Christmas season.
It was great!
Number 7 of the "In Death" series by JD Robb and you'll never look at Santa the same way......
I loved this one. They have all been great but this one really sucked me in. I like the mystery, romance and the laughter that comes with these books. I really feel a connection to the characters growing with each book. Maybe that's why I enjoyed this one so much.
Another good addition to the "In Death" series. Midnight in Death makes a good follow-up to this book.

Nora Roberts writes as J.D. Robb in series about Eve Dallas, a New York City detective, and her husband Roarke. Set in the mid 21st century
Three dead and Eve must find the killer before Christmas....Can she find him in time???
Very good book...had trouble putting it down. Love all the books in this series. Very well written and keeps you on edge the whole way through.

Has a different cover than the one posted...
The seventh in J.D. Robb's addictive Eve Dallas series. This copy features different cover than the one pictured.
A good entry in this futuristic series as Lt. Eve Dallas searches for a serial killer who is using a 12 Days of Christmas theme.
loved it! I think this is one of my all time favorites!
Great book!! I love this series

Santa Claus delivering murder in the guise of a christmas present. He follows the 12 days of Christmas, a partridge in a pear tree, two turtle doves and so on. Eve follows in a frantic pace to catch the murderer before he can finish all twelve days. His victim demographics? Clients of an future dating service which is filled with intrigue on its own. All this and shopping for the holidays and getting ready for a first Christmas with Roarke. Almost enough to tip her over the edge. It is a fast paced read for anyone who enjoys the mystery genre. I totally enjoyed it. Well it is on to book 8, only 23 plus to follow the series thru. Enjoy!
Sci-fi and mystery thrillers. JD Robb's intriquing characters make the 21st century all too real. "No one likes to alone during the holidays. Eve Dallas, on the trail of a ritualistic serial killer, has made a disturbing discovery: All of the killer's victims have been traced to Personally Yours. As the murders continue, Eve enters an elite world of people searching for their one true love - and a killer searching for his next victim. A world where the power of love leads men and women into the ultimate act of betrayal..."
Another great In Death book. This takes place at xmas time. All the hustle and bustle and murder for the holidays. Dallas is once again lead on sexual murders that are also very well planned by the Santa. Finding the murder takes her to a dating service and all of the staff, owners and clients. So many people to eliminate. Great Read
I really love the "In Death" series, and this book was a replacement for one I lost several months ago. Each time a new one comes out, I go back to the beginning and re-read each of them in sequence (including the "tweens") to thoroughly enjoy the continuing timeline.
A novel in the futuristic series. When technology brings lovers together, dating can be a deadly game.
in death another success
