This book is written as a collection of emails between Holly, her family members, co-workers & friends. It takes a little while to follow the style and I spent a lot of the first few sections going back to figure out who was saying what to whom. There were a few times in the beginning where I almost gave up on the whole thing. I'm glad I stuck with it because as the story went on I got used to the style and was able to enjoy it more. There isn't a whole lot of plot in this book, it's more like a glimpse into someone's daily life- funny & entertaining in some parts, boring & dragged out in others- much like real life! This book is also quite long compared to other books of this genre, but once you get into it, it flows really quickly. Great light, fluffy read.
While it is 660 pages it is a quick read since it is all e-mails. It reminds me of the show Ugly Betty with it's characters and quick conversations. It was very enjoyable and I would recommend for a fun read.

Cute book. Written all in e-mails between "Holly" and her various friends and family. I liked the style.
I didn't know this was a book composed entirely of e-mails, and at first I was really put off by that - it's distracting to read. But I kept going, and about midway through the book the plot really picked up and I got very interested in finding out what would happen. The ending was cute.
It's very much in the vein of "Shopaholic" - a candy bar sort of read - but overall I did enjoy it.

I laughed out loud while reading this book, but it took a bit to get "into" it. The book is e-mail messages, so you have to "follow" the conversation, but once you get into it, VERY FUNNY.

While I loved the e-mail format of this book I felt like the overall story line of the book was predictable and contrived. Just once I would like to see a "Chick Lit" book that offers something new in way of plot while simultaneously offering a new package (i.e. e-mail format). Disappointing but still enjoyable.
Can you tell a lot about someone from their email inbox? I knew this before reading this book, but I know it even more now! The reader is swept into a story that is filled with unique characters and fun circumstances. Through emails you meet the main character Holly and her friends and co-workers. I loved the change in formatting, it was different from the usual novel and was beyond entertaining.
Yes, this book is over 600 pages, but never fear with emails being the format of this book, it breezes by you and you can't believe that you are 200 pages in and already a third of the way through the book. Some may have some fear in this different formatting but with the subject of emails as headers, there is some distinction between each conversation and it gets so good that it is hard to put it down.
For your ultimate chick lit reader, this is a perfect book to swap among friends, even better for those readers that are in the work force who may enjoy the work humor a little more!

I loved every bit of this book! A quick and easy read. Holly had me laughing and crying with her throughout.
I haven't read a book in over a year. So, when I picked up Holly's Inbox on Saturday, I never expected to have it finished by Sunday evening. Over 600 pages long, the pages just turn and turn, as you read on to see what happens next. An easy, fun read and a must-add to your chick lit list of Books to Read if you haven't already.
I already started on the second book and wish that there were more to pick up after. Holly Denham is an entertaining, funny, attention grabbing author. Also, can I add that I absolutely love her Grandmother??!?!?

I read and loved Hollys Inbox by Holly Denham. I ate it up. Swallowed it whole. It is 665 pages and I downed it. Its that good. And its written in e-mail form, so it goes faster than other books. I went to pick it up, thinking it was a thin, chick-lit novelit is a brick. I almost dropped it because I wasnt prepared, and I was laughing (out loud, by myself). I knew I had to have it; a thicker than thick, total chick-lit, British novelSOLD! Did I mention it had a recommendation by OK! Magazine on the front cover (thats the British version of US Weekly only better)? It was exactly the kind of light read I was looking for to get me through the end of the year (the beginning and end of the school yearok, and all the times right before a vacation, tooare madcompletely exhausting and stressful) last year as I was ending my last teaching job.
Can I tell you how fun this book was to read. First, its always fun to read e-mails and letters (who doesnt like getting letters? And who doesnt remember The Jolly Postman and how fun that book was?) So 665 pages of e-mails, that you dont have to worry about answering, is spellbinding. Not to mention that Holly is very Bridget Jones-esque, yet not quite so incompetent. (Note here: I love Bridget Jones, and most other of the British chick-lit booksisnt there just something delicious about the way British authors write?) Its got the ridiculous aspects, but is also relatablewhich is why this genre is so successful.

It was kind of like eating guacamole; although there isnt that much nutritious value, you just cant stop eating!

Luckily there is a sequel that is now available in the US (ahem, some of us had to order it from the UK last year because we couldnt wait I wont tell you who though).
