It was a good read. Similar to most time travel books. Great for Christmas!

Absolutely one of the best holiday books I've ever read with a very intriguing story.

I love romance stories and American history so this book should have been right up my alley. It wasn't because I also want a book that is well written with characters that are actually developed. This story moved too fast which made the "love" of Jake and Melody unbelievable. The time travel towards the end became ridiculous and childish. It was one of those books that I couldn't wait to finish just so I could move on to something else.

I'm a fan of Heather Graham's books but this one was a stinker, very annoying characters especially Melody.

A cute romance involving time travel. Melody hits a man on a snowy road who claims to be from the past. She knows this is not possible so she makes up all kinds of logical explanations for who he is and why he is dressed in a revolutionary war uniform. Jake insists that he is who he claims but Melody resists his claims and takes him home to her eccentric family. Soon her parents and brother come to believe Jake's story and begin to try and find ways to help him return to the past. Lots of obstacles and many twists and turns follow. A very enjoyable story.

I love time travel books and Heather Graham's historical series are my favorite books by her. Add the magic of a new Christmas book, and this was a sure winner in my eyes!

Don't miss her Florida series if you enjoy historical romance!

This is my first Heather Graham book and from what I've read, my last! The story just beat a dead horse, "you say you're from the past, you're crazy, my family is crazy but I love you all". All the wiccan stuff, it was too weird for a Christmas story, if I don't unload it in a week, I'll throw it in the recycling bin.

Audio Review: Narrator 3 stars / Story 1.5 Stars

I Love (with a capital L) time travel stories so I couldn't wait to listen to this one. It started out great - Jake Mallory, living in 1776, is about to be hung for treason - while on the gallows, something happens, and he is transported to his same hometown but in the present time. At that point, the story started to go downhill.

The dialogue between the characters was just ridiculous and Jake, although now 200+ years in the future acclimates himself immediately. He doesn't even speak very differently than how we speak today and is completely comfortable with cars, computers, TVs. The female lead, Melody, is incredibly immature and boring and it's hard to see why anyone would fall in love with her. Her family (Wiccan mother, inventor father, cute brother) are much more interesting than she is.

I have read many time travel stories and you obviously have to suspend some belief to enjoy it (A Knight in Shining Armour by Jude Devereaux is the pinnacle of time travel romance stories), but this book is poorly developed and badly written and I can't really recommend it except to the most devoted fans of this genre.

A little bit of time travel helped out by some herbs and rose petals make for a good Christmas story. True love can be found in the most unlikely places. Sibling relationships mean a lot. And family is everything.

Disappointing. I didn't connect with any of the characters. Things that I probably wouldn't notice, or care about, irked me. Melody's parents are too nice and wacky. Too nice (think of a Hallmark Christmas movie!)! And of course, they live in Jake's old house. Yep, he recognized it. After 233+ years of remodeling and changes, etc it was still recognizable to him. (Yeah right). I could go on, but I've wasted enough time.
