Cherise E. (CherryDuck) reviewed Home to Whiskey Creek (Whiskey Creek, Bk 4) on + 150 more book reviews
After leaving her home in Whiskey Creek 15 years ago and never looking back, Addy is reluctantly returning to help her beloved grandmother. But shes not back for long before her ugly past creeps into her present, forcefully.
Noah is out for a bike ride when he comes to Addys rescue. He doesnt remember her from his youth, but she definitely remembers him. Addy is standoffish and not willing to give him an inch. Noah is attracted and wanting to know more.
When I was offered this book to review, I jumped at the chance. Brenda Novak has been a favorite author of mine for quite some time and this Whiskey Creek series is outstanding. I have been dying for this books release date!
This story is a little darker than the previous ones. There are some horrible truths that are revealed and pretty much everyone in the story has to reevaluate everything they thought they knew. A lot of this story isnt easy to read; in fact some of it is brutal. But Brenda always does a great job of painting enough light into her darker stories so you arent consumed with the bad.
Addy is incredibly resilient and her capacity to forgive is admirable. I am not sure everyone could recover the way she did and not be a complete basket case. Watching her and Noah discover each other while coming to grips with the past was worth every written word.
I love Whiskey Creek because everyones lives are tangled together, some of it is ugly but in the end all the struggle and ugliness makes the happily ever after that much sweeter. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and now I am counting off the days until Take Me Home for Christmas comes out!
