After leaving her home in Whiskey Creek 15 years ago and never looking back, Addy is reluctantly returning to help her beloved grandmother. But shes not back for long before her ugly past creeps into her present, forcefully.

Noah is out for a bike ride when he comes to Addys rescue. He doesnt remember her from his youth, but she definitely remembers him. Addy is standoffish and not willing to give him an inch. Noah is attracted and wanting to know more.

When I was offered this book to review, I jumped at the chance. Brenda Novak has been a favorite author of mine for quite some time and this Whiskey Creek series is outstanding. I have been dying for this books release date!

This story is a little darker than the previous ones. There are some horrible truths that are revealed and pretty much everyone in the story has to reevaluate everything they thought they knew. A lot of this story isnt easy to read; in fact some of it is brutal. But Brenda always does a great job of painting enough light into her darker stories so you arent consumed with the bad.

Addy is incredibly resilient and her capacity to forgive is admirable. I am not sure everyone could recover the way she did and not be a complete basket case. Watching her and Noah discover each other while coming to grips with the past was worth every written word.

I love Whiskey Creek because everyones lives are tangled together, some of it is ugly but in the end all the struggle and ugliness makes the happily ever after that much sweeter. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and now I am counting off the days until Take Me Home for Christmas comes out!

I was given an ebook copy of this book in return for my honest opinion.

Book 4 in the Whiskey Creek series is the story of Adelaide Davies and Noah Rackham. This satisfying installment is about tragedies of the past that continue to wreak havoc in the lives of those in this community in the future: a gang rape, the truth behind the death of the towns favorite son, and a young mans heart wrenching dilemma about whether to tell his secretly adored, life-long friend about true nature of his sexuality.

Characters from past books make appearances giving continuity to story lines running throughout the series and welcome updates to the lives of those featured in the previous books.

The story opens with action! Noah rescues Addy from a mine reuniting her with the object of an immense high school crush, Noah himself. The tension between the two is immediate although they become easy-going and comfortable with each other early on in the story even as she pushes Noah away and insists to herself that she cannot become involved nor stay in Whiskey Creek. The author has Noah and Addy take two steps forward and one step back maintaining our suspense but with the underlying feeling that this could only come to a satisfactory conclusion. As I was rooting for this couple from the very beginning yay for that!

What a good story and another seamless, smooth entry in Brenda Novaks Whiskey Creek series!
