She warmed his feet, and now he had to keep her!
I loved this story. You could almost see the story unfolding. Duncan was Madelyne's hero in every way. Who knew that when Madelyne saved Duncan from freezing to death and warmed his feet, she sealed her fate. He had to have her, she needed him. They complimented each other and learned from each other. This was a page turner, I loved the secondary characters and how they meshed as a family. You will love this book. I am taking a little break from JG right now, on to Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard.

One of the 1st historical books I read by Julie Garwood, and I think one of her best. Duncan is a great alpha male and even though Madelyne's complete trust and innocence is a bit too much at times, she is also very intelligent and compassionate to everyone in the story and stays true to character. The romance between Duncan and Madelyne is hot!! A true Romance book with lots of steamy love scenes thrown in between comedy, tears and just plain good writing by Garwood.

How do you tell everyone that you're not as evil as your brother, when they assume you have been raised by him, and trained in his household? No need if you haven't a mean bone in your body, and a loving and giving heart. Madelyne wins over the very man who is set on using her to avenge his sister's rape, orchestrated by her brother. Duncan quickly realizes that Madelyne needs rescuing as much as his sister did.

This is the first Historical Romance I ever read (years ago) and it will always remain a favorite. Baron Duncan and Lady Madelyn are very likable characters. Duncan is an incredibly sexy alpha male who falls head over heals in love with Lady Madelyn, who is sweet and funny and strong-willed. The plot was interesting enough to keep me reading long into the night. I am not one to re-read books but I do grab this off of the shelf every once in a while to read again and to spend some time with 2 of my favorite characters of all time. If you like Historical Romance Novels, you will not be disappointed.

Beautifully written. The first Historical romance novel I ever read where once I was finished, I started to re-read because the story captivated me so.

I wish there was more of Madelyne and Duncan's story!

My all time favorite Julie Garwood book. Rich details make you feel like you are right in the middle of all of this story. You will not be able to put this one down. I enjoy reading this again and again.

Bound to obey her ruthless brother, the gentle Lady Madelyne suffered the cruel daggers of his whims. Then Baron Duncan Wexton unleashed his warriors against her brother's domain, in vengeance for a bitter crime. Exquisite Madelyne was to be his prisoner, the prize he took as sweet revenge.

As always with Julie Garwood's books - this one is fabulous! Baron Duncan Wexton (aka the Wolf) captures Lady Madelyne while retaliating against her brother for a terrible crime her brother committed. Little did he realize he was actually freeing Madelyne from her brother's ruthless and cruel clutches. He falls in love with her and vows to protect her with his life.
