Wonderful beach read. It was slow, not much happening, lots of talk of action, but no big reveals or events, but something keep me reading. Beth is a pretty negative person surrounded by people who have huge dreams. Seemed to me that she was just along for the ride. Loved the politico descriptions!

The Hopefuls by Jennifer Close is the story of a marriage surrounded by the political process of the United States. The story is narrated through the wife Beth's voice. This perspective works well as an outsider's view of the machinations of politics. Beth is not always a sympathetic character, but this is a story in which many people will recognize the joys and pitfalls of marriage.
