wow. holy hell. I'm speechless. I couldn't put this down. I love the characters, the plot, the pacing, the twists... and holy smokes, this book had the hottest scene and no one even kissed! I'm in awe of Colleen Hoover. She makes me want to be a better author.
(As a side note, I basically read paranormal. But this had my attention every bit as much. That's not easily done.)

After reading Slammed and Point of Retreat and absolutely loving them I had very high expectations for Hopeless. I was not disappointed! Colleen Hoover is an amazing author! Anything she writes from now on is an automatic read for me! She has a gift for creating characters with real depth. She gets you to connect with them on such an emotional level that you really feel for them and their situations. Colleen is also awesome at taking a really painful subject and treating it with such respect and dignity. One million stars!!!!!

Hopeless had me sucked in almost immediately. I loved the quick, easy banter between Sky and her mother, her best friend Six and Dean. There was a lightness to it that made me smile.

And then my happy bubble was popped. I should have known, based on the blurb that this was not going to continue. Sky's world is turned upside down. And so was mine (well, in my book world anyway.) I suppose that there was a happy conclusion at the end, but I'd have rather just read a book about the happy Sky & Holder. I don't know why every book needs to have a negative 'twist' that needs to be overcome. But I guess that's what keeps readers reading.

This book was just ok for me. The second half of the story really brought my rating down. I'm still undecided as to whether or not I'll pick up Dean's version.
