Excellent read, hard to put down. All of Hunter's books have a tie to each other, even though each is a stand alone story. It is worth the effort to read in sequence.

This is a great read - especially if you like old historical accounts of what happened in the US.

Very informative about the 1940's in the Hot Springs, Arkansas era. Social attitudes as well the life styles of that time. Lots of action with just a few areas requiring speed reading. One of the best mysteries I have ever read.

From the Denver Post --
"Hunter is Robert B. Parker on steriods, Mickey Spillane with a thesaurus. He writes crime fiction like no one before him."
