This is my favorite of all the books he has written. It was a good story line and lots of surprises.

In other mysteries, the cozy ones at least, you have an amateur detective that is involved in a lot of murders. Kind of like Jessica Fletcher. If I were a friend of hers, I wouldn't let her anywhere near me! And the amateur sleuth is usually involved with a police captain or detective. (Come on â who uses the word sleuth in this day and age? I've never heard anyone use the term!) This isn't the case in cop thrillers, of course. Nor is it in the books by David Rosenfelt about Andy Carpenter, attorney extraordinaire. In this book Andy's friend Captain Pete Stanton is set up to take the blame for a murder and possession of drugs. Andy and his team need to solve the mystery of who is behind of it. It is filled with the humor I love and have come to expect from Mr. Rosenfelt. I enjoyed this book, especially the last few pages!

This author won the Shamus Award (the Private Eye Writers of America (PWA) award) for the best detective fiction genre novels and short stories each year) for this story. This book is very different from the others because there are major changes between characters that take place in this book.

When Danny Diaz is found dead, Police Captain Pete Stanton calls Laurie and Andy over to take care of Diaz's 8-year-old son and Sebastian, Diaz's slow-moving basset hound. Within 24 hours, however, everything has changed. Pete Stanton of the Patterson, NJ police force, and Andy's best friend, is accused of killing Diaz and dealing drugs.

All the usual suspects are called into play a part in the case (such as Marcus, Willie, Sam, Hike, and Edna). It's another charmer, but more than that, significant changes take place in the story of Andy and Laurie.

12th in the series.

An easy read. This story had more twists than others and the killer is a mystery till the end.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the Andy Carpenter series. This book with no exception. A real page turner, some really good twists that keep you guessing to the end, and the always witty and wisecracking Andy.

With this author's humorous and quick witted Andy Carpenter, combined with Laurie, Marcus, dogs and a thrilling legal story line, I couldn't ask for anything more.

Enjoyed the book. Got a little lost with characters toward the end of the story-but it was a good, fast read.
