This is a nice story, in a typical Danielle Stell style. I enjoyed it because I love houses, so the restoration, etc was very interesting. It has a happy ending with a little bit of mystery.

I was reluctant to read this "The House" since several of her recent books have been horrible. "The House" is not up to the quality of the Ms. Steel's earlier books, however, it's getting closer.

This an easy read about and independent woman who realizes that she doesn't have to loose who she is to get married and have children. I thought it was a good book.

First off, try this book just to admire the beautiful period portrait of Danielle Steel on the back cover! A bit reminiscent of Barbara Cartland! And I promise you will like the story too. The book is about a house, a small castle actually, a gift of love built in 1923. Now, in the present, an elderly client leaves a generous sum of money to his workaholic lawyer and tells her to use the money for something wonderful, so she buys the old mansion. Sounds corny, but the author makes it work. Add a handsome architect who arrives on the scene to assist with the remodeling and you have the beginning of a romance. But it is the house that will steal your heart!
The first couple chapters were a little slow, but overall it was a very good book. Typical Danielle Steel!

At first I thought this would be boring; however, I enjoyed it so much I couldn't put it down. An attorney decides to buy an old house (actually sounds like a mansion) with money she inherited from the owner, and renovate it. In the process, she finds love.
Its a great book, I loved the pace and the concept.
If you have read Danielle Steel in the past, you pretty much know what to expect and that's what keeps us coming back...she never seems to disappoint her readers, always delivering the tearjerker plotlines, a few twists and turns and then - happily ever after. She's like fast food. You buy her books because you know what you will get and you LIKE it!

Another good book by Danielle Steel
A rather different DS book which started out very interesting. The ending was a bit soft, predictable but otherwise a good read.

Danielle Steel does it again with another great book. This book is about a house that was built in 1932 and left to Sarah a workaholic attorney. She has decided to have it restored, and enlists the help of architect Jeff Parker. You will love the chemistry between these two. A must read for Steel fans.

I liked the general story of this book, but I did not like the fact that the author repeats herself constantly. This was the first Danielle Steele book I've read, and I was not impressed. The first half of the book could have been reduced to 40 pages if she didn't keep reiterating herself over and over... it made me feel like either she thinks her readers are stupid and have to be reminded of things, or she just needs to remind herself as she wrote. As I said, I was not impressed.
Delightful love story that will put a smile on your face.
This was predictable and okay. It was not great, but not horrible. I liked all the parts concerning the history of the house. The rest was just another romance novel with all the expected twists. Nothing special.

This moving story of a single, workaholic woman attorney REALLY touched my heart. It is centrally her story, but it tells the story of the 18th century couple, the husband of which built the house this modern day woman has inherited...a lovely dual-time period tale of love, and how we can sometimes overlook the most important things until they are right in front of us.
Enjoyed this book quite a bit.

Not your typical Danielle Steele although there is romance but its more about a house, a history, a mystery, the 1920s/30s and today. Also a lot of information about architecture,style, don't know if the house really exists, but if it does I would love to see it.
