Can't say much for this--hoped it would be a 'creepy' story but alas! it's nothing!
I admit I didn't finish it but by page 150 there just wasn't anything happening, so much about the surroundings of the house, and the people are written like outback idiots, I don't know if this was suppose to be a 'gothic' type story or what, it involves a family moving to an 'isolated' location in New York? What? Is anywhere in the US isolated? I thought it was going to involve a 'creature' in the woods but again---nothing happening.
For a first novel by Duffy it doesn't make me want to read anything else from him, this has been compared to Stephen King? I don't read King anymore either, he just went off his rocker with his long drawn out nothings of stories!

The suspense builds slowly in this novel that is reminiscent of books written by Stephen King. Nothing is as it initially seemed, and the ending is the perfect conclusion. Highly recommended for readers who enjoy the unexpected in suspense novels. I am grateful to LibraryThing for the opportunity to be an early reviewer of this debut novel.
