Good story. I didn't think it was so creepy, definitely not scary, but the telling was absorbing. Hard to put down. And for heavens sake, treating consumption in a wet environment? Yikes. 3.5 stars

This is well done and compelling. It pulled me in right away and kept me reading. We have an unreliable protagonist who is running from something and traveling to a new position as nurse maid to an elderly mistress. Her arrival in the strange household is told in part 1. Part 2 takes us back to the previous household where she was a lady's maid and tells the story of why she is running. Part 3 takes us back 40 years to learn of her current mistress and the makeup of this strange household. Then all is woven together with some supernatural elements. I enjoyed it.

Mystery involving a woman hired as a nursemaid for the very strange, elderly owner of a remote coastal mansion that was once used as a hospital for TB patients.
