This book is wonderful. I wanted to know these people. Have you ever wondered about the tie between identical twins? Imagine two that had been raised on the road, so that all they have is each other. Lily married just one, or did she?
My only complaint is that this author needs to write more books! Great small town setting and wonderful time period. His writing is sparse and perfect in his characterization.

This was an interesting story about a woman, Lily, who meets Oren and Ian (twins) as children when their father is hired to build her family's new house. Ten years later, Oren returns for Lily, but Lily finds herself in a strange relationship as Oren and Ian seem to have a strange inseparable, connection with each other. While Lily and the twins are fine with their relationship with each other (nothing really risque by today's standards, at least not that I caught onto- just an unmarried man living with his brother and his wife until he gets on his feet), the rest of the town finds their unconventional living arrangement troublesome, especially after a drunken incident at a local dance. I enjoyed this book and appreciated the rather quick-moving pace. I wanted to smack everyone in the town that believed idle gossip to be the truth rather than go find out what was really going on, and in the end I got a bit frustrated with the main characters for allowing gossip to ruin the lives they were enjoying. I felt the author fleshed out the characters quite nicely and I'm glad I gave this book a try!
I LOVED this book. Tragic & beautiful.
