Absolutely fascinating and extremely well written. You wouldn't have to be a history buff to enjoy it.

Very informative account of the history of the U.S. Post Office and how it influenced transportation (stage roads, railroads, and airlines) supported westward expansion, and impacted many other areas of American life. This little-credited agency. the 'face' of the Federal Government, still touches virtually all Americans to some extent. Full of interesting obscure facts, such as: In the early years, conviction of theft of the mails could result in the death penalty!
