This book was extremely helpful when I was younger. It's written in a way that's easier for a kid to read I think than other books like these.

Growing up with two borthers, Carolyn has learned a thing or two about how to survive. She keeps her hair too short for ribbons, wears boys clothes whenever she can and avoids girls with Mary Janes-at all costs. But lately Carolyn's techniques don't seem to be working. Her brother Jack never wants to play with her anymore. And her friend Charlie has started acting weird-all because she's a girl Carolyn realizes that she's not going to be able to pretend she's one of the boys for much longer. But can she figure out a way to be a girl-and still be true to herself?
