The title intrigued me, and the book grew on me as I read, the characters becoming more and more real and affecting in the damage they'd suffered or done to themselves. There's a mystery that gets solved in the course of the novel, but that's not what matters by the time you get to that resolution. Kind of an intense reading experience.
