Almost didn't read this one based on reviews I have read but soooo glad I did. I loved the book. I found it very hard to put down and loved Minerva and Giles' love story. For me this was the best of the series so far!

I thought this book a little slow. It just didn't keep my attention. It certainly didn't keep me up at night wanting to finish it. I did finish it but it was just ok.

This is my favorite in the series so far - a heroine who writes gothic novels, a hero who pretends to be a rogue but is really a spy, a meddling grandmother, an unsolved mystery, a treasure map, and glimpses of the characters from the rest of the series - great!!

I like it when youre excited for a book to come out and youre not in the least bit disappointed after you read it, in fact it is better than you imagined. This is how it is with Sabrina Jeffries new release How to Woo a Reluctant Lady #3 in the Hellions series.

Minerva's story.... She is the Gothic novelist who doesn't need to marry; she can take care of herself. But if she doesn't marry her Grandmother will cut not just her off but Minerva siblings as well and they do need the money.

Giles Master, barrister, rake, gambler, womanizer and spy. Has loved Minerva for a long time, but has never been in a position to claim her, and Minerva has been in love with him even longer, even after he broke her heart. She hasnt married because other men just dont measure up.

To thwart her Grandmothers plans Minerva advertises for a husband in a womans magazine. Hoping to show her irascible Grandmother just how silly it is to force her and her siblings to marry within the year or lose their inheritance. Giles is forced to declare himself before he loses her. Then he must convince Minerva he is the man for her after all.

This was a fun romp of a story, sassy dialogue, hot love scenes; it also brings you one step closer to solving the mystery that runs through all the Hellion series. I liked it is as all around fun read.

I love they mystery of the murder that continues through this series. Can't wait to read the next book. I also like how we see glimpses of future story lines & a look back at past characters. Such as that Giles is brother to David from the last of the Heiress series. If you love Sabrina Jeffries you will love this book.

Minerva is a writer of gothic novels and makes enough to support herself to live modestly on her own. However, her grandmother has decreed that all the Sharpe siblings marry or lose their inheritance. The issue is, if one fails, they all do. Minerva is the 3rd of 5 and this is her story.
Minerva first met Giles at her parents' funeral where he provided comfort and reassurance at the age of 9. Ever since then, she has been infatuated with him. At 19, they had a moment and then Giles said something which hurt and ever since then, she has disliked him. To cope, she wrote and based a character on him. She doesn't realize how close to the truth she is (Rockton, the fictional character, is a spy, you can guess what Giles does).
Giles has always liked Minerva and now that he is retiring from the spy business and focusing on his career (he is a lawyer). He feels like it is time he gets married. He also feels Minerva would also make a good wife and with her grandmother's requirement that she get married, the setting is perfect for him to make his move.
Of course this book is about 2 people who are perfect for each other, but need time to realize it. I did understand that Giles's work required secrecy, but some trust with Minerva would have gone a long way. Minerva does open up sooner; however, Giles sees it as a way to justify not being honest with her (see?! she told me things about her family that no one knows!!). So it was also frustrating.
We also find out what Desmond and Ned Plumtree were up to

When her grandmother demands that she and her siblings marry before the year is out or lose their inheritance, Lady Minerva Sharpe comes up with a plan to thwart her. Minerva will advertise for a husband and pick the one that her grandmother will surely forbid. She doesn't expect Giles Masters to show up on her doorstep. He was the man she had loved for years, until he hurt her.

Giles asks Minerva to stop using him as the basis of her villain in the gothic novels she writes. They come to an agreement. She will stop writing about him if he will agree to a fake engagement. Surely her grandmother will forbid her marriage to a rogue like him.

This was a fun book and another good installment in the Hellions of Halstead Hall series. I thought Giles and Minerva were a wonderful couple, and I enjoyed the story arc about her parents' deaths. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

This installment was disappointing. It felt like the writer didn't care about these characters, so didn't bother to give them a proper love story. Love scenes left MUCH to be desired; there was no chemistry! Did SJ just rush through this book to get it over with?
