Another awesome book in the Spenser series. This is a flawless series, every story is funny, dry-witted, and, (from me), eagerly awaited. If you enjoy hard-boiled detective stories with humor, try this one!

Robert Parker meets Dick Francis. Spencer meets the horse racing world. Another great one. Can't miss. Highly recommended. Geez, how many more superlatives can I add here? :-)

Someone's making death threats in Dixie--against a Thoroughbred horse destined to be the next Secretariat. At the owner's request, Boston P.I.Spenser hoofs it down south---where the lies are buzzing ..and the dying is easy. Very good

Spenser at his best in this murder mystery centering around thoroughbred race horses, southern good-old boys, and ill-gotten inheritances.

Solid "Spenser" mystery from Parker. Hawk is absent from this one (too bad!), but Parker manages to find some sufficiently sassy characters to support and spar with Spenser as he tries to find out first, who is shooting race horses, and second, who did in the owner -- and why.

Spenser heads for horse country in this page turner. You could pretty much figure out who did it. A very quick read.

Funny. I'd first read this book seven years ago and bestowed an eight star (of ten) review at that time. Now that I'm a little older and wiser, my reading preferences have changed a bit. Spenser is at his best with Hawk, who isn't present in this novel. I felt Parker dialed it in with regard to the storyline. The best chuckle-worthy line came during the Saratoga horse segment and Spenser's observation of the jockey. Also, twenty-seven books into the series and he's still talking about nailing his girlfriend all the time.
