It was great, but it only covered 3 days from the events of the end of "Untamed." Don't get me wrong, the plot developed and changed quite a bit. But the book was over in the blink of an eye. And P.C. Cast hasn't slated a date or name for book 6, which is inevitable because of how things were left. It had the same humor that I noticed Zoey's character possesses. And there was still the complicated web of relationships Zoey has with her men (and boys).
I was looking for a bit more romance, but I view this book as a kind of a in-between book. It covered events that must come to pass for things to get good again. Don't get me wrong, there was action and turmoil, but it ends on kind of a weird note. I hope this doesn't spoil anything for you. But I enjoyed it, all things considered.

Ok, I have waited a few weeks since I finished the book to review. I love Zoey, and all the HoN characters, but this book was just awful up until the last few chapters. It only covered 2 days, 2 DAYS! That is horrible! Spread it out a little will you? Plus, everytime something happened, they would explain it FULLY to the other charcters several times over. You dont need to do that, I already read it when it happened, shorten it down a bit and you can fit more in.
Even so, I will continue to read. But I was very disappointed in this book. Not worth the hardcover price.

This is the fifth book in the House of Night series; all in all this series has been very inconsistent. The third book was kind of ho-hum, the fourth book was excellent, and the fifth book, well, it kind of sucked.
In this book Zoey and friends are hiding in the tunnels with Stevie Rae and her red fledglings. Somehow they need to get back into the House of Night to face Neferet and Kalona and somehow break the influence they are having on the vampires and fledglings of the House of Night.
The above is basically the whole story. Sadly the first 2/3's of the story are spent in the tunnels with not a whole lot happening. Zoey spends a lot of time whining about Erik being too possessive. Then, of course, Zoey has to get involved with Heath...again. And because Zoey wouldn't have enough to whine about without being involved in a love triangle, Stark is drug into the picture too. This story felt like it was almost a repeat of the third book; at least in the relationship aspects. Seriously nothing exciting actually happens until the last section of the book. This section was pretty good and dealt with Zoey and friends going back to the House of Night and facing Neferet and Kalona.

Believe it or not I though Aphrodite was my favorite character of this book; her actions are much more heroic than any of the others. I am not sure I will read the 6th book. My overall reaction when I finished this book was, "Thank goodness I am done, I can read something good now!"

Hunted was OK, but I didn't have high hopes since I was disappointed with Untamed. I was very annoyed with the dialogue in the beginning of the book. I know it's a YA book, but it seemed so juvenile to me. Do teenagers really talk this way? IMO, this was a filler book. There was not much going on through most of the story. The ending was as expected, but it was sort of a let-down. I wanted more action, I guess. I know the thing that bothers me the most is all of Zoey's boyfriends. I just wished she would focus on her craft and realize that she doesn't need a man (or boy) to be complete. I'll read the next in the series whenever it comes out though.

I have been waiting excitedly for this book to debut...but I am kind of over it with this series after reading this book. I feel that the book is very repetative (for example everytime something goes wrong or might go wrong Zoey says "well hell") how annoying. Also Zoey is a big hoe-bag even though she only slept with Loren, and it gets worse in this book by 2 more guys (demon, vampire, dead-kid, what-ever). I will probably get Tempted when it comes out just to see if the authors can clean this up and make another good book or if it will end up rubish like this one....

Consistantly good... At 35, I'm a bit too old for these books. But, I tripped onto this series while looking for novels for my 13 y/o daughter. It's more of a 16 - 20 y/o target though. I cannot wait for the next one. And, I like this series better than the popular Twilight series.

This was another really good book in the series. It is fast paced and a lot seems to happen in a short amount of time, but it is still believable. Zoey reminds me of a "school-girl" version of Anita Blake (from Laurell K. Hamilton's series) and I always enjoy a story with a woman/girl in the position of power who is collecting her own harem of men. After all, why should guys get all the rights to the fun stuff without being looked down upon?
Overall, it's a series that I hope will continue for quite awhile and am looking forward to the next book in the series!

Moving on...the story itself was slow. They escape the House of Night, only to go back and escape again. Nothing, and I repeat nothing is further developed or resolved from the last book, not the red fledgilings, not Neferet, and certainly not her love life. This book made me feel like I was reading in a circle. The entire book is set in only two days. I really hope if they continue the series they do it better. Chosen and Untamed were really good. Hunted, not at all.

I've loved this series from the beginning, but this book was just really, really slow. It only lasted about 3 days, (which I guess wasn't THAT bad ...), and Zoey is back to having 3 guys AGAIN! sigh.. and a lot of things that we already knew was repeated in this book, and I just wanted to scream WE GET IT ALREADY! Although Zoey's tattoos are spreading, it's like she isn't growing at all. Some parts were excellent, don't get me wrong! But for the most part is was just bleh!

Book 5 is definately not as good as the other books. The first half could have been reduced to about 20 pages. Too much repeating from previous books, and a very slow pace. That said the ending was good and she did advance some of the characters nicely, Stevie Rae and Darius. I hope the next one moves along more quickly.
Hunted is the fifth book for the House of Night series by the mother and daughter Cast team. This books starts off with a fairly steamy dream that Zoey has of her and Kalona, the fallen angel that we met in the last book. The beginning put me off a bit because I don't really like reading erotica in young adult novels. As a young adult teacher, it makes me feel like I should not let me students read this. However, this is a hugely popular series and I think that my students will end up reading this anyway. I just want to remind people who overt sexual instances do not need to be in young adult books, even if there are a lot of young adults that may be intimate with someone.
Away from my rant, Zoey and her gang are in the tunnels and they are finding them to be way more hospitable than they originally thought they were going to be. It seems that Aphrodite went on a spending spree and furnished the tunnels with everything a vampyre might need. The healing begins, but the problems are still right at the surface. After a long night in which Eric and Zoey make-up and become a couple again, Heath shows up at the tunnels. There is a lot of chest pounding and arguing between Heath and Eric, but Zoey ends up going outside the safety of the tunnels with Heath. Of course this means that something bad is going to happen. Zoey ends up injured and the only way to keep her alive is for her and her gang to go back into the House of Night. At the House of Night, Zoey is healed by Neferet because Kalona forces her to. Stark shows up, and everything seems to be changed. It is immediately clear that the gang is not safe at the House of Night, so they must escape, but Kalona is not willing to let Zoey go so easily.
I like these books to a certain extent. I really like the overall mystery and action to each of the House of Night books, but I'm tired of the romance drama. I think that Zoey really needs to stop dating three guys at one time. Is there a point to that? I don't know how many teenage girls are really suffering with that problem. I know that teenagers often like one guy and then someone else, but they are rarely so mixed up in their feelings for multiple people at once. In my experience, they fall in love with one boy and then out of it when they find someone new. With each new love in Zoey's life, she makes me irritated. How does that girl ever get anything done? I think the books would be better if they just stopped the foursome.

In this book 5 of the series the plot thickens and grows ever more tense as real truths are revealed and the enemy makes his arrival along with his horrible minions. Suspense filled and page turning a fast and captivating read.
I liked the first 3 books in this series, but the next 3....not so much. There seems to be a lot of repetition and a whole lot of "not much going on;" and the characters started to get on my nerves. This could have been a great series, but overall, I'm disappointed.
I really liked the book, and wasn't let down from my expectations from the earlier books. I am beginning to get frustrated though by how easily swayed and fooled Zoey and the other fledglings are.

after reading some negative reviews, i thought i would hate this installment of the house of night series, but i was wrong. although i wish (as someone else noted) that zoey would learn that she is good by herself and doesn't need a man (or three!) to make her special, i still enjoyed the adventures of her gang.
the only thing i would change is that i feel damien, the twins and jack are all quite one dimensional. i don't know of any gay boys who act like jack (and i know some flaming ones!). there were also a couple of name typos.

love this book series
This series surprised me. It is marketed to teens and written about teen vampires, but the books have a more mature theme and dialogue to them than most of the books of the teenage genre. Written in the first person, it does give a more clear idea of what is going on in the main character's head. There are a lot of creepy elements including dark magic, invoking evil spirits and blood rituals. Warning: the characters in this book are teenagers who are quite promiscuous (even includes teacher/student and child/adult sexual relationships). Good story, good writing, not a great idea for young teenagers or those that would be offended by the sex and dark magic issues.
This was the best in the series. I wasn't sure I would give this on a shot because I didn't like #4, I'm glad I did though.
Being a 38 year old woman, I was not too sure about reading another "teen" book series (The Twilight Saga being the first). I loved this series almost as much as the Twilight saga. This series has a very different take on vamps but is still great! I have referred and even lent my books to my 14 year old to read. Very captivating series! It keeps you wanting to read more and more! It was very hard putting the books down!! A definite read for anyone who enjoys The Twilight Saga.
All of the House of Night books are really good. The way the characters act and think can be immature, but I still enjoyed the plot line. I've read them all, and can't wait to until the next one comes out!

Love this series and this book!!
This is the fifth book in the House of Night Series and I have really enjoyed this book. Like the first four, this book leaves me wanting more of the characters! I hope that the authors come out with a sixth book very soon!

Although I was mad that most of the book stuff again happens in the last part of the book it was good I enjoyed it.
Loved the 5th book to this series! Of course I was already invested in the characters, so it was thrilling to grow even deeper with them. It was fast paced, and I never found myself bored. I LOVED this storyline! It was very mysterious and enchanting with an amazing theme to it. No matter what, you have a choice between good and evil! I loved seeing the struggle and triumph of the characters. I was left feeling comfortable, and not so much tormented in wait for the next book. However, she did leave a handful of things untied, which leaves me in anticipation of another great story in the 6th book!
