This novel is one of sensual vignettes between several vampires and their "prey" over the centuries. The writing, while entertaining at first, quickly grew stale for me when the characters failed to develop into three dimensional demons of the night. (Well, I couldn't really say "human beings" now could I?) If the characters had been allowed to develop past the bedroom door then I might have been able to sustain my interest in the book past the first three chapters. While good sensual writing is necessary to a sensual novel, I would argue that well developed characters who make you care whether or not they have achieved that "ultimate of satisfactions" lend a spicier flavor to what otherwise becomes a bland stew.

A collection of short stories involving 2 vampires (and an occasional appearance by a third).
These stories are erotic but, for the most part, very cardboard. Cardboard people (no depth) and cardboard situations (same).
After 2 or 3, they all seemed the same to me.
I prefer Whiteside's "Devil" books where she fleshes out both the characters and the situations.
