A delightful romance for those who like the paranormal romance genre.
I should have read "Catching Midnight" first as this is the sequel, but it stands well on it's own.
It's reads as a cross between a fantasy and erotic romance, but with an excellent plot and good character development. The lead characters are funny, sweet and sexy. Oh, and I loved the medieval setting!
Highly recommend for those who enjoy this genre.

The best in this series.
Juliana & Ulric. Ulric lets go of Gillian and finds Juliana. She makes a great Queen for him. They have trouble from her jilted fiance and two runaway French Upyrs. Great continuation of series.
After betrayal by his long-time love, Ulric had left his pack of upyr (vampire shapeshifters) and run to the city to forget. There he meets Julianna, a woman running from an arranged marriage to a man she despises and looking for freedom. As they travel, Ulric discovers an unusual draw to Julianna, a woman he cannot force to forget him and who does not fear his nature. But evil stalks them, and both must decide if they are willing to compromise enough to give love a chance and to save the pack.
I enjoyed seeing Ulric find love and healing after losing Gillian in Catching Midnight.

In book 2 (Catching Midnight), Ulric lost his lover, Gillian, to a mortal man. Ulric had followed Gillian to the town of Bridesmere and after she leaves he stays on despite the Upyr elders' edict that he should stay away from humans. Hunting Midnight picks up the story here ... while in Bridesmere, he encounters Juliana who is running away from home to escape an arranged marriage to a much older man. Juliana begs Ulric to help her escape ... and when she discovers who and what he is, she wants him to make her upyr as well. In the first book, you learned about upyr politics. In this book, you learn more about the upyr way of life. Fun read.
loved this book!!!!
Follow-up to Catching Midnight. Ulric and Juliana's story, touches the mind, body and soul.
Emma Holly is excellent as always!!
next book after catching midnight. great story.......you'll love it.
Interesting read and well-written, although for some reason I just couldn't get into it as much as others, especially the Katie Macalister paranormal books. Perhaps it's because Hunting Midnight seemed to take itself a bit too seriously...
For centuries, Ulric's pack of shapeshifting immortals have hidden in the Scottish forest, far from the dangers of the human world. Only when his longtime lover betrays him does their leader venture out, recklessly roaming the streets of Bridesmere, singing for his supper . . . and whatever else he desires.
Ulric never expects to meet Juliana Buxton, dutiful daughter of a rich merchant, nor to be blackmailed into helping her escape her elderly betrothed. Juliana is everything he has learned to distrust in a woman: bright, bold, and endlessly curious. The smart course of action would be to ditch her, no matter how deliciously passionate she is.

Loved the book.
Hunting Midnight, the follow-up to Catching Midnight, is a true phenomenal, spellbinding read!
This was a pretty good book, not a bad read for my first Emma Holly book. I can't claim the genre is among my usual favorite since it appeared to be more of a romance than anything else, though paranormal, and didn't have as much danger and intrigue as my favorites usually do. However after an initial slow start, I began to develop an affinity for the characters and will look forward to future books in this series to see where things lead with Ulric and Juliana.
Excellent vampire-shape-shifter (all rolled into one!) romance.
Ulric was introduced in Catching Midnight as a bit of a villain. The heroine had to run away from him to escape his obsession with her and his belief that he loved her and she was his queen. He was prepared to force her to come home with him and he didn't seem like a very nice guy. I was surprised, really, to see he was the hero of the next book.
In Hunting Midnight, Ulric meets his perfect foil. She has a similar name, similar personality characteristics as Gillian in Catching Midnight, but Ulric learns he can't control his way into a woman's heart. And he also learns that some women like his dominance, especially Juliana.
Lots of sexual heat and erotic scenes. Pretty tame compared to much of Emma Holly's other work. No scenes with multiple partners, same-sex partners, or anything particularly kinky.
