Excellent book. A great mystery/thriller without all the romance that so many have. Part of a great series! But you don't have to read all of them to enjoy one!

The more Steve Hamilton I read, the more I like. Alex McKnight has grown into a fantastic private eye character over the past 3 novels, with plenty of room for future growth. This novel wasn't as dark as the first two, perhaps because it took place in April and much of it in southern Michigan. I've driven the road from Grand Rapids to Detroit a few times and it was interesting to read and know the area. I can see this series being a huge hit for Michigan-ites, even if they're not yoopers.

This is the third in the Alex McKnight series. McKnight is a retired cop living in Michigan's upper peninsula, who keeps finding himself getting pulled into mysterious capers. A very good series, and I highly recommend "A Cold Day in Paradise," the first book in the series.
A good series about a former police detective now retired to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.
Mystery set in a small town in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
A real page turner.
Not as much fun as his first 2, but still a good read
Alex McKnight series. Really good.
fantastic book in a great series.. enjoy this author..
Third book in a series starring Alex McKnight, a former police officer wounded in the line of duty. This is another page turner and I find myself getting quite attached to the main character who is a bit screwed up but has a very good heart. Highly recommended, but should be read in order.
Getting to like Alex McKnight very much so will continue this series.
enjoyed very much
I like the setting
Alex, the private eye, gets developed more in this book. It sort of drags at first, and then gets good, worth the read.
The series is great, it's a private eye noir set in Michigan's Upper Peninsula where summers are short and winters are brutal and cold. I really enjoy the series, but our poor protagonist never seems to catch a break or have a good time. Despite that, this book, and the series is certainly worth reading.
