Interesting series featuring Kate Kennedy, Senior Sleuth. The story alternates chapters between the present day storm and Kate's past life. The two time periods intertwine to provide the solution to a murder.

A South Florida retirement community is the setting for a hurricane evacuation and a murder to follow, with Kate Kennedy quick on the trail of the criminal. Quirky characters and relationships.

I enjoy "elderly sleuth mysteries" and always look forward to a new one in this series.

This is a cute cozy mystery--I always appreciate "seasoned" characters. This is not the first of the series so it took me a bit to catch up with the cast, but they are all enjoyable. The bits of history were intriguing and as a Katrina survivor, the hurricane subplot was extremely realistic.

The star rating on this novel would have been higher had the end not been quite so abrupt; it was almost as if the author had a specific number of words to use and when they were used up, she could not add anything else to the story.

This is the second book that I read in this series. Although I do NOT live in a retirement community, I DO live in South Florida, and I am familiar with the way things are in these senior communities. You do need a good sense of humor. I could probably even point out some of the characters in these books. You could breeze thru this book in an afternoon. If you are looking for a "cozy' mystery without all the blood and gore, you will enjoy this book. Another writer, very similar to Nora Charles is Rita Lakin. She writes about a (Jewish) senior retirement community in South Florida. Oy vey!

This is the first book I have read in this series, but it definitely will not be my last. Loved the main character, and the author makes good use of the flashback which is a literary style I like.

As usual, there was so much to like about the character development and style of writing. But the plot twist and flash-backs to Kate's childhood were terrific. I remember the cold war and the mistrust between Russia and the United State during the 1950's and early 60's so I found this portion of the story to be most interesting.
