Hilarious story of a man who went to brittany with his girlfriend, dumped the girl and fell in love with a beautiful little town. He did not speak the language but bought a house anyway. Another one of those fish out of water books as a middle aged American tries to make sense out of how things are done in another country. L found myself laughing out loud in the middle of the night. A fun and quick read.

This funny, laugh-out-loud memoir by Mark Greenside chronicles his adventures as an American in Brittany, France, who does not speak French nor understand French customs. He becomes a homeowner there, and really gets to know the differences between French and American culture while trying to fix up the house, and get to know his neighbors. A fun read!

A quick read with chuckles. It helps to know a little French since the author has phrases in French throughout the book. A nice journal of the differences between the French and the American culture viewed through an American's eyes.

I really enjoyed this book. I was especially interested in how he went about buying his French house and then all the details of owning a house in a foreign country. A delightful book. AC
