It contains historical summaries and development for each aircraft included, plus many photographs and color images, and overviews of their combat record. The major players are all represented, including the main fighter, bomber and reconnaissance types of the USAF, USN, German Luftwaffe, Italian Regia Aeronautica, Imperial Japanese Navy and Army and the air units of Soviet Union. Bill Gunston is a respected and prolific military aviation historian that can also write a book that is both interesting and educational.
