Finch was hired to set "traps" to debunk psychics in the 1920s. I really enjoyed the first 3/4 of the book and then it seems to get muddled and left a lot of questions unanswered. I guess you are suppose to come to your own conclusions.

Great account of the methods of exposing false mediums and spiritualists in 1920s Boston, New York, and Philadelphia area. Spooky but not scary.

Houdini's attempts to unveil the fakery of mediums is the historical event that forms the basis for this tale. Unexpected turns and twists mark both the plot and the characters in this tale about a particular attempt to unmask fake spiritualism. Decide for yourself in this intriguing book. Who really are the fakes? Characterized by a tight descriptive style and a plot that does not stoop to sensationalism, this enjoyable tale is as much about the debunkers as the subject of their quest. I was really carried along as the mystery was unwound and the truth got closer and closer...

I agree with what member Nancy H said about the book - the first 1/2 is very enjoyable and leaves one in anticipation of a great revelation. unfortunatley, the ending however, is muddled and leaves something to be desired.
