Tired of being a slave to the wage in a Seattle coffee house, Sarah Katherine Lewis takes a job as a 'model' at a tanning salon with only one tanning bed. Pleased with the money that at first seems easy, she soon begins working at a peep show. Indecent follows her career trajectory from these places to massage parlors and eventually a topless bar in New Orleans.
Indecent is a fascinating read, because Lewis is brutally honest about her workplaces, co-workers, customers and her mixed feelings about all of them. The reader sees everything through her point of view, so that everything seems gross rather than titillating, (probably because it is). Although it is fascinating to get inside the mind of a working girl, I felt the need to bathe myself in Purell after reading this book.

This is a darkly humorous look at the adult intertainment business! Brilliantly written. A must read for anyone who has ever worked or considered working in the industry.
