Of all the Victoria Holt books I've read, this is the one that I remember most. Ms. Holt's typical protagonist is a strong female, caught in society's supposed limitations. Yet, the lady (always a lady, not just a woman), prevails and finds happiness. This one has a memorable characters and shows how persistence pays off.
A historical novel in which a young woman grows, hurts and loves in both England and India.
Effusive in detail, a classic Holt adventure/romance/novel of suspense.
early holt, mostly romance, enjoyable.
"A mesmerizing story of blackmail, romance and deception."

A good read, a bit different than the Victoria Holt plots that I'm used to, but enjoying it very much.
Well worn, but a great read!
Book has a different cover, but is the same book and ISBN #.
