Over the top, like an Angelina Jolie movie, but also fast paced, well written and a page turner. Very highly recommend.

Comparisons to Lisbeth Salander of the "Dragon Tattoo" series are a bit of a stretch but the book is a gripping read, the narration is very good, and the plotting taut and suspenseful.

This tells the tale of Vanessa 'Michael' Monroe. She is basically a hired killer. I didn't much like her. She is very good at killing and quite cold-hearted. Partly why I could not rate it a 4. The basic story is- she is hired to find the daughter of a tycoon by the father. The African location was interesting - something new for me, and the heroine is very sharp and deadly, as required, but there is something not quite likeable about her. For instance, when she finally displays the capacity to love, she just as easily turns on that man - more than once - when she becomes suspicious of him, and she becomes suspicious very easily. At one point she had him and another at gunpoint and tied up and asked questions, and untied them after it seemed nothing much had changed from when she tied them up - strange. Lastly, having her - I repeat her - go by the name Michael most of the time was very annoying. I realize she posed as a man on and off, but she always uses the name of her male persona. I finished the story and the end was a good end. Not sure if I will go on in the series as I didn't much care for her. The author tried to give her some humanity after creating a killing machine, but it didn't quite get there for me. I think if the character had been a man, I might continue, but since it's a woman, I can't quite get into her corner. If you like your gals tough, hard and cold, this is it. A bit too cold for me.
