Short and Sweet:
Wow! What an amazing, imaginative story. Ink was a gorgeous read, full of drama and mystery. I've never read anything like it.
To Elaborate....
Katie Greene is completely out of her element. Uprooted from her life and struggling to make a new one that she's not entirely sure she wants..... in Japan. Her mother has recently died, and she is living with her Aunt, Diane, who is a cool, involved adult in her life. After a few nearly friendless months, Katie sees Tomohiro break up with his girlfriend in the halls of the school. During the argument Tomohiro's girlfriend tosses his drawings into the air and one settles at Katie's feet and MOVES. From here on out Katie becomes a bit obsessed with figuring out how this is possible. She follows Tomohiro multiple times, and then finally confronts him. Tomohiro has a dangerous secret that not even he fully understands, but he is easily as captivated by Katie as she is by him. Together they will find out that there is so much more going on than even Tomohiro was aware of, and that they are not the only ones interested in Tomohiro's strange gift.
This book is so beautifully descriptive. At times it is like the ink from the story is swirling around in your mind trying to capture the images from the page. Amanda Sun has done a fantastic job of adding a unique tale to the YA world. Just gorgeous!
