Futuristic romance by Lauren Dane, and third in series, after Undercover, and Relentless. Carina is the only daughter, of the ruler of the Imperium, who are the enemies of the Federation. Carina's despotic father plans war against the Federation, and plans to marry her off to a Sadist. Her mother plans her escape, with contacts in the Federation. Daniel Haws is sent to extract Carina. In less than than three days, they are madly in love. I have to say, after Relentless, I waited for this book, for months. I am truly disappointed in this installment. I didn't care about Carina and Daniel, the way I did for Abbie and Roman. The romance felt rushed to me, and the dailogue repetitive.."I love you, you are the only one for me,"...."I love you, but you can do better.." I couldn't stay focused on this story, and finished two books in between starting and finishing this one. In my opinion, disappointing. Hopefully the fourth one will be better.

I really liked the cover. That's about the nicest thing I can say for this book. I enjoyed its' predecessors, but this one just fell flat. The storyline was very promising, but the author felt she had to explain every little thing, every emotion, & I was ho-humming my way through the book. If the hero & heroine could say "I love you" too much, it was in this book. Note to author: sometimes, less is more.

This picks up where the first 2 left off (the Federation against the Imperialists). This was Daniel's story (Abbie's brother). Daniel is a top operative in the Phantom Corp, a group who goes undercover wherever they need to go. They rescue, assassinate, gather information. The goal is to prevent a war with the Imperialists.
Daniel's latest job is to rescue Carina, the daughter of Ciro Fardelle. Carina has information that will help the Federation. In Carina's world, she has no value except as a pawn to further her father's power. Ciro is after power, at any cost. The citizens of the Imperial empire are scared, if they speak out in any way, they disappear. This happened to Carina's brother Vincenz and her grandmother. It's also revealed, that Carina's other brother was allowed to die as an experiment.
Either way, this had some action, not too detailed (the romance is the primary focus). Carina has been suppressed and knows what she doesn't want. She falls for Daniel quickly and he her. I liked Carina, she's smart and when told to do something by Daniel, she listens. She's also open with her feelings. Luckily there wasn't too much of the "I'm not good enough for her!" bullshit. Carina does get answers about her brother. Daniel is also a great character, he's an alpha without the alpha-holeness.
The Federation is still at risk for war. What's next?

This book continues in the same setting as the previous two [in fact, the hero is the brother of the heroine in Relentless]. Princess of the opposing [Imperium] Universes defects carrying information that will help the Federation. Our hero is the Phantom Corps operative sent to bring her out. [He's not alone, several other Corps members are spotlighted - they will have their own books later.]
It's a good read, the heroine is enthusiastic about escaping and enjoying the freedoms of her new life - starting with the hero, Daniel. To quote the hero "she can shoot and drive the getaway transport, what's not to love?"
