Aden Stone is a sixteen-year-old boy with four souls living inside his body.
One can time travel, one can raise the dead, one can tell the future, and one can possess another human being.
He has spent most of his life in and out of institutions, never really making friends. He doesn't like having the souls sharing his body. A lot of problems have been caused due to Aden not being able to control the powers that the souls have.
Aden soon gets sent to a ranch for troubled boys, and his first week there he meets a girl, Mary Ann. Mary Ann is the exact opposite of Aden. She has friends and he spends most of his time alone. Being around Mary Ann quiets the voices.
They form a bond of friendship that neither really understands. She meets a werewolf shape-shifter and he meets a vampire princess. Two forbidden romances begin amidst the dangerous lives that the friends have found.
INTERTWINED contains beautifully written characters that keep you entranced from page one. I simply could not put this book down until the very end. Gena Showalter's characters are an engaging and exciting group that, when woven together, form a beautiful tapestry that adults and teens alike will enjoy.
If this is just the beginning of Harlequin's new teen line, then we the readers will definitely not be disappointed. We have much to look forward to!

This book was a good collection of several types of supernatural. There are vampires, werewolves, witches, fairies, goblins, demons and about anything else that goes bump in the night. Aden has had a tough life. For as long as he can remember he has had four other voices, people, in his head. They are his friends and constant companions. Until he meets Mary Ann. The voices in his head stop. The first part of the book was really great. It got a little slow in the middle, and a little repetitive. The ending was very good, but maybe a little rushed. The story goes back and forth between Aden's view and Mary Ann's view, so you get two sides of the story which is nice. It was overall a good book and I am anxious to read the second one! 4 out of 5 stars.

I was a little nervous to read this book. I've read (and re-read) all of the author's other books, but it took me a while to buy this one. I'm glad I did buy it, because it's not the stereotypical 'vamp/were' theme that's been popping up in the young adult section since the 'Twilight' hype. This book was not only funny, it also pulled at the heart-strings as well. I really felt bad for Aden throughout the book. But I digress, this book was amazing, and I recommend it to adults and young adults. It's a nice change from the Twilight stuff, seriously.

Have you ever read a book that you were so wrapped up in, so completely involved with, that by the time you finished it you had no idea what the heck your feelings are? If you have, than you can understand how Im feeling about Intertwined. Its been three days since I read this book, but I still have no freaking idea how Im going to put this review in words you are going to understand, because Im still thinking, WTF did I just read? Regardless, Im going to try. I should be able to make something out for you guys . . . I did write over seven pages worth of notes on the subject. *deep breath*
Intertwined isnt your average teen romance novel. For one, the main characters dont fall in love and live happily ever after . . . with each other, anyways.
"Were my waffles sprinkled with crack? she wondered. This couldnt be real."
When Aden Stone first meets Mary Ann Gray (in a desecrated graveyard after Aden accidentally causes the dead to rise . . . whoops), the heavens move, all the towns power flickers, and they accidentally call dangerous supernatural beings from all over the world to their small town to kill investigate the source of so much power. But dont be confusing that mutual feeling of magnetism and repulsion with love, because they dont like each other like that. Because that would be too easy. No, Aden and Mary both confess they feel like long-lost siblings, but why?WIN_20150126_175603
Meanwhile, Mary is being stalked by a big, beautiful wolf with green eyes (because thats a normal body part to be noticing when a person thinks they are minutes away from becoming a scary wolfs next meal.) that is much too tame and non-aggressive to be an average wolf with green eyes that can somehow talk to her with his mind. At the same time, Aden has finally met the girl of his dreams that Elijah, the prophet that lives in his head, prophesied hed meet soon before hes killed.
Oh, did I forget to mention he has souls taking up space in his head? Yeah, he does. No, hes not crazy, they really live up there. Your doctors would think you have schizophrenia too if the only friends youve ever had live inside your brain. Let me introduce them: Elijah, the soul that can and will predict when you die. Hes never wrong, no matter what. Calebs ability forces Aden to body hop (ironic that he cant seem to leave Adens though), Julian raises the dead, which can be damn inconvenient when Aden accidentally walks into a graveyard. Then theres Eve, the female soul stuck in Adens body. Shes the mother figure (can you imagine having a mother-like soul taking up real estate in your body? Yikes!) and can to take Aden into the past his past.

I know you can hear a lot of sarcasm in what Ive wrote sorry not sorry but, as you can see, it gets a little ridiculous . . . and it doesnt stop there. And yet, I had such a fun time reading this! Sure there was a few things I didnt like about the book.
For one, Aden and Victorias (Victoria is the vampire princess he falls in love with) relationship didnt click as a good match. Theyre all insta-love and no real substance, but I cant tell if its deliberate because of Adens up-coming expiration date. Im hoping book two gives me a clue.
In comparison, Mary Ann and Rileys (remember that green-eyed wolf? Yeah, hes a werewolf. Figures) relationship is moving at a slower, more believe-able pace with much more essence. They feel like best friends turned lovers, which I absolutely enjoy. Maybe I have such a big crush on them because Riley reminds me of a big, love-able puppy. I mean, he totally loves to have his each scratched. Its so cute. ♥_♥
Nothing I say about this book will touch on how crazy complex this story is for young adult fiction or any fiction, really. What is it with Showalter and her ability to take a crazy busy plot line and reel me like a small fish on a hook? I dont stand a chance with this lady! When she throws one plot twist after another on me, she guarantees Ill by another book. This woman is either crazy talented or just extremely sadistic. I cant tell, all I know is Im picking up the next book as soon as possible.
