Well, I feel a little silly about this because everyone else loved this book - but I didn't find it very interesting. I got through the first 50 pages and I found the telling of the story not very gripping. Maybe I'm not well enough read about South Africa or I don't care enough about rugby/sports - but I'm not going to be able to finish it :(

A well-written book that details how rugby (the national sport of the white Afrikaners in South Africa) became a post-apartheid South Africa's sport and helped break down barriers between blacks and whites in South Africa.

An incredible book! I learned so much that I did not know. It is written in an intriguing way and there is just enough about the "game", but not too much that it becomes boring. I loved it from the beginning to the end!

As one reviewer noted, this book does start out a bit slow, but if you persevere, you'll be rewarded with a great story. I received the book as a gift and didn't know much about the end of apartheid. It was a truly amazing set of events navigated by a unique individual.
