While I never really took to the maine character, I ended up really enjoying the book. It got my attention and I ended up reading it in a day just to find out what happened and who the guilty party really was.

As a lot of us know, people can do anything in the face of adversity. This is something Kealy and her children discovered immediately following the death of their husband and father. Readers are taken inside the world of the rich and famous, and then are abruptly tossed on the other side of the tracks along with the main characters of this intriguing book. The people you think can trust, you can't. And the ones you think you can't trust, you should. Kealy learns how to follow her own instincts, as well as those of her children as they unite as a family determined to reclaim their lives. I especially enjoyed the surprise ending.

Hoo-boy. Thought this would be an enjoyable fast read but when I can guess the ending (bad guy who's really good guy) within the first 10pgs it's not a good sign. I threw in the towel when the author (who seemingly has never met a person of color in her entire life) began attempting what she imagines to be dialogue in a black home in the "scary ghetto" N-word this and N-word that-characatures rather than characters and so on and on.
Disheartening that this book was even published as it reads like a community college night course project. I'm removing it from my booklist here at PBS and sending it to Goodwill instead...

This is a very good book. In the beginning the woman feels invisible, due to her not being as young as she once was, but later in the book she realizes that being invisible saves the lives of her children along with herself, after the sudden unexplained murder of her husband and the instructions he called her with to run away from all that she and her kids knew.

I felt like this was a very mediocre book. I kept waiting for it to get exciting, but really, it never does. It just progresses in a straight line, exactly the way you'd expect it to unfold, all the way to the predictable ending. Not worth the time it took to read it, IMO.

Kealy Ryerson has everything a New York socialite could want: wealth, power a devoted husband and loving children. , Then her husband, a high profile defense attorney calls. Run, he says. Take the children. Go now. Trust no one.

Exciting and fast paced.

This was one of those hopelessly bad books that just kept getting worse. I was going to throw away until I saw that several other readers had posted glowing reviews. So maybe there is someone out there who might want it. Guess it's a matter of taste.

Kealy Ryerson has everything a New York socialite could want: wealth, power, a devoted husband and loving children. Then her husband, a high-profile defense attorney, calls while she's at the salon. "Run" he says. "Take the children. Go now. Trust no one."
Kealy's hesitation is fatal---within a half hour, her husband is dead, shot down in the street. Her apartment is under surveillance; she has no money and no passport. Her credit cards have been cancelled. She and her teenage kids are alone on the streets, with only their wits to keep them alive. But without her fancy clothes and expensive make-up, no one recognizes Kealy---not her husband's
partner, not her best friends.
As a poor woman of a certain age, Kealy can walk invisible among the people who want her dead.
