A well-written debut cozy. Engaging characters, card-making tips, and a nicely plotted story line.

I'm a really big fan of books with well-crafted characters ... which is why I could not give this book more than 2 stars!!
Unless we find out in a later book in the series that the main character suffers from bipolar disorder, then I'd have to say that this author has absolutely NO IDEA how women think or act!!
I understand that the author was trying to write a character who is strong-willed and independant. What we got was a whiny individual who freaks out at every kind word or offer of help or sympathy. This is not likeable or realistic.
I'll give the second book in the series a try .... but if the hysteria isn't toned down, I won't be inviting book #3 to my shelf ....

While I did finish the book, it crossed my mind to put it in the DNF pile ... I'd like to give the author another chance with the next one, but wasn't all that keen on the first book. Too much bio material trying to be introduced; conflict more between brother and sister than with criminal/suspect ... just wasn't one of my favorite reads this year.

Great book. First book in the card making mysteries. If you are fans of the tea mysteries and scrapbook mysteries you must try this series.

Another three book series by Tim Myers, writing as Elizabeth Bright. I enjoyed this first book, and will be reading the others. A good cozy mystery with interesting characters. Myers writes good mysteries. However, in my opinion he should stop trying to write female main characters. While I like Jennifer, no woman could be as habitually stubborn, dense, and annoyingly independent as she is. He should stick to the male MC.

First of a series, this is a wonderful cozy about a small town that has quite a family of main characters--two sisters (one owns a cardmaking shop, the other a scrapbooking store) and their brother the sheriff along with a quirky aunt.
Although cardmaking hints are dispersed throughout, they are beginner level. Unlike some cozies that I keep because of the recipes, patterns, etc., I am fulfilling a wish list on PBS with this copy.

This book had everything I want from a book. Very interesting characters, set in a currant time, and about something I am involved with, card making.
I like books that have a continuing story line and I have already read the second book in this series.
Looking forward to the third in the series.

I devoured this book because it has just the pacing I like. After enjoying it so well, I then found out that this is the same person who writes as Jessica Beck, and I usually enjoy those books as well.I thought there was just enough about how to handcraft cards to be interesting, but not so much that it hindered the story. I thought the interactions between the various characters were very realistic. The story kept up my interest and allowed me to ignore how unrealistic the story really was. On the other hand, the premise was at least a little more realistic than many cozies!
