I love all the books in this lovable series by Patrick Taylor. All the characters are delightful and the stories precious. An Irish Country Girl certainly did not disappoint.
Taking us back to Kinky's younger days and how she became the person she is in her later years was story filled with love, humor, and sadness.

When a reader finds stories like this one, one wishes that it could go on forever. Getting to know the characters so deeply they become real like neighbors one sees every day.

I highly recommend this book.

This book is a total departure from the other Irish Country books in that it is a tale steeped in Irish mythology and legends. It tells the story of about 4 years of housekeeper, Kinky Kincaid's early life, the origin of her second sight and her experience with the Banshee and Fairies. If Irish mythology is not your cup of tea, skip this book -- doing so will not detract from your enjoyment of the next book in the series. This book could be easily read as a standalone for those who relish Irish folklore. While I enjoyed it, if you are looking for a typical "Irish Country" book, this is not it.

I've had a busy month with school and today I decided I was finally going to sit down and finish Taylor's book. I'm glad Taylor helped us learn more about Mrs. Kinky Kincaid, but honestly, I'm getting bored. This is the fourth book in the series and they're almost all the same, style wise. Taylor tried to tell a love story, but that's just it--he told it. I didn't feel the emotions as well as I can in other books. Taylor threw some new characters in, which could increase interest, but not for me.

Truthfully, the first book in the series, An Irish Country Doctor, has been the best and the rest only mediocre since then. I keep hoping Taylor will surprise me with another Irish Country Doctor, but I think I've given up. I love reading books set in Ireland, but the series it getting too repetitive for me.

I WAS SWEPT AWAY INTO THE LIFE OF (MAUREEN O'HANLON AKA KINKY KINCAID) A YOUNG GIRL STRUGGLE INTO WOMANHOOD. PATRICK TAYLOR CHARMS YOU WITH HISTORY, LEGENDS AND CUSTOMS OF A YOUNG IRELAND. ALSO SOME VERY TASTY RECIPES. EASY AND CAPTIVATING TO READ, I ENJOYED IT MUCH.

Entirely different from his other books, but a wonderful read. We've all met Kinky in his other books and now know her full history. A really good read, as are all his books.
