Not my kind of book at all, and I really tried to like it because it came highly recommended. An unsympathetic hero and heroine, confusing switches from past to present, an overwrought conflict that is never fully explained, plus the "plot" seems contrived, mere filler between erotic scenes with over-use of such cringe-worthy words as "dew" and "filly". I won't be continuing on with the series.

Not what I expected. Its a historical but there's some definite bondage and S&M going on in this book. Not my cup of tea.

Whew!! Ms. Whiteside really knows how to steam up the pages!! Reminds me of Robin Schone. I'll surely be looking for more of this author's works.

Wow, this book had a lot of sex! The word "orgasm" was on the first page....and on the last (literally!). If you like reading romance with tons of sex, you'll like this book. It was a bit much for me. It was a good story, just too many bedroom scenes!

I loved this book, great story and some good erotic moments but the story line was awsome.

This is my first title by Diane Whiteside that I've read and I really did like the storyline and main characters. Makes me want to follow up with the rest of the "Devil" trilogy. Defintely erotic and hot!

Out of her Devil Series this was my favorite. I really liked the hero he seemed to really love her.
This is my 1st Diane Whiteside book but it won't be my last. I loved it. Some one PLEASE tell me where I can find a William Donovan of my own.

The best thing I can say about this book is - don't waste your time.

Loved it, Loved it, Loved it! I may even reread this one. Very Erotic. Not recommended for people that do not like to read about explicit sex. Great story line, waiting to read the Northern Devil! Woohoo!
Very explicit sex - pages and pages. Not my type of novel. Storyline was okay, though.
Quite a good story; I liked Ms. Whiteside's tale and the flow of the story. Good characters and a good plot. Quite erotic.
The first I have read from Diane Whiteside. I really enjoyed the story. I am looking forward to reading more in this series.
If you're into hot, sexy stories, this one has it. Good read.
I couldn't get into this book, the sex scenes were all right, the story sucked though.
I read this book in a day and a half! Very hot and steamy if you're into those types of books, but it does have some wild stuff in there, so be prepared!
This book is hot and steamy. A very good story line with a lot of hot love scenes.
This is The first Diane Whiteside book I read and now I'm hooked.

Diane Whiteside really keeps the pace up with this exciting and satisfying tale of an old west mining town. Interesting characters who are ready to take action in a multi-dimensional plot, not a lot of circular/repetitive worrying thoughts filling the pages here. The villain is evil and single-minded. The hero is a true hero: alpha, experienced, just. The heroine is resourceful, open and loyal. The sex scenes are imaginative and sexy. Highly recommended!
I did not like this book at all. For a man enamored of Viola, Donavan certainly jumped at the chance to have a willing concubine when she was in desperate straits. I found his behavior dishonorable and disgraceful - making a whore of an honorable lady. Yeah yeah, he protected her from her enemies and he married her in the end - big deal - he's still a swine. I don't enjoy books where the heroine falls for the rapist or kidnapper (not that Donovan is either but you get the point.) I just don't find it believable that the heroine would fall in love with this animal.
The sex scenes were flat and boring and if he called her sweetheart one more time I think I would have screamed!

Great First Book in the "Devil" Trilogy ! ! !
The characters have no depth, the author makes silly, unsupported statements (now just why would the younger daughter of a rich man not be expected to wed?) and the writing leans heavily toward purple prose (but not enough to be laugh out loud funny.) This book had so little going for it that I couldn't get past the first 100 pages.
I really enjoyed this book. It was an easy read and worth the credit!
Whiteside does not disappoint with this Devil book. And it sets up the next few books in her series quite nicely. Good read.
Every page was sex. There was hardly a plot at all.
I didn't really enjoy this book. I actually kept picking up other books to read before I ever got around to finishing it. It wasn't awful, but there wasn't anything special about it. It just didn't grab me.
I enjoyed this book....however, it is a little on the erotic side.
Awesome book.
I liked it kind of
Brand new. Read once. Whew, hot!
