WOW too much yo-yoing between love interests in this series. Dorian is still my favorite character in the whole book. To me this book started off great and then Mead just had to get in one last switch of love in before she knocked her up for real. And seriously antibiotics really it would have been more empowering if she had just decided that it was what she wanted as opposed to it just happening.
How many times can one person switch who they love before they decide that maybe they shouldnt be with either? HUM Lets see.
Kiyo Dorian Kiyo Dorian Kiyo Dorian save me please seriously *sigh* she really should have known better. Oh well I cant wait to see how she ends the series truthfully Im hoping for some more action with Dorian that would totally make this whole series worth my time.

I loved it,suprises, betrayal and intrigue. It's all here and with the suprise ending,it will be a book you won't soon forget.
I have mixed feelings about this book. The plot added nicely to the over arc of the series and it was nice to see Eugenie grow more comfortable with her powers. However, what happens between her and the men in her life really put me off. I'm not sure I want to spend more time with Eugenie.
At the end of the Thorn Queen, Eugenie had "taken over" the Thorn lands and must return to the Otherworld periodically to recharge herself and her lands. Kiyo has failed her and she dumped him for King Dorian of the Oak Lands. At the start of this book she is practically living with Dorian. They are extremely happy and yet fighting a war against Queen Katrice of the Rowan Lands.
Eugenie Markham is part Gentry (Fae) and part human and she systematically forgets that the Gentry only think about what is good for themselves. In the past both her lovers, Dorian and Kiyo have disappointed her with their own agendas. Unfortunately for Eugenie, this doesn't change in this installment. Dorian still only give her half of the information needed to make an informed decision and Kiyo is still hiding things from her.
I don't want to give anything away because there are many surprises in store for you. We have a quest to find the Iron Crown which has amazing powers; we have a king who loves Eugenie but protects himself and his interests above and beyond his lover; we have a fox shifter who loves Eugenie but he's another one with diabolical secrets; we have a queen who fears Eugenie and will do whatever necessary to keep her from power; we have her demon servant who hates her and provides the only real levity in the story; and we have her sister, Jasmine who is under lock and key since she a danger to humanity and Eugenie. Oh and lets not forget her roommate Jim, her admin assistant Lara, her step-father Roland, and the ghost of Deanna. Her plate is definitely full and with betrayal after betrayal who is she going to turn to when the chips are down. Another great book in the Dark Swan series.
