For whatever reason, I enjoyed this book more than others in the series. Perhaps it was because, unlike most of the others, most of the action took place outside Italy.
Another reason might be due to Falco being most serious and less of a wise-cracking, smart aleck, a characteristic which wears think after a while. This may have been due to the fact that most of the comic relief was provided by other characters in this novel

I have started reading all the Falco books in order. I am enjoying the older books best, and this one is no exception. Although my favorites are the ones which take place in Rome itself, I enjoyed the foray into Germania, and the inclusion of a new character - Justinus, Helena's likeable younger brother. I highly recommend it.

Another great Falco mystery set in Ancient Rome. Great blend of humor, intrigue and history. A great series you will enjoy!
