The Italian Teacher by Tom Rachman follows the trajectory of Charles âPinchâ Bavinsky's life as he perpetually tries to gain the approval and recognition of his father, world famous artist Bear Bavinsky. The magic of this book is that the characters feel so real. The book is pure fiction, but it feels as if it is a real story about real people. Also, no spoilers, but I love the unexpected ending.
