I always read prologues, introductions, dedications, etc. but in this case you'll be so turned off by the obtuse and difficult languaging that you'll never get to the book. The story is amusing and with enough subtleties to make it intriguing without the need for a notebook to keep track of all of the subplots.
The Walter Scott classic of medieval England.
This is a very interesting book, great for any classic lover!
Medieval England in all its splendor. This book in the Reader's Enrichment Series includes lots of helpful background material about the author, his style, and historical background as well.
