1st in a 'series' though each book features different main characters. Characters from prior and future books are mentioned are take part in a bit of the action so I'm calling it a series because of that.

This is the best of the 3 that are currently in print (IMO). The action is non-stop and it's also nonstop sarcasm the entire book. The woman is definitely spunky in this one! As in all 3 books there are serious bad buys 'behind the scenes' but the ones after them are funny/silly. So you have a serious theme with funny unbelievable characters thrown in.

I also enjoyed the endings of hers - they're 'happy' but not necessarily ending with the main couple waltzing down the aisle together or the woman 'needing' the man if that makes sense.

This was a good story I'd recommend if you like sarcasm and fast-paced storyline mixed with silly.

Entertaining story. Aubrey is a Librarian at the Library of Congress. She is kidnapped a gunpoint, by a man trying to save her life. They get into a lot of trouble, and fight the whole time, before they figure out who the bad guys are, and before they figure out they are crazy about each other. Good book.

The big stud entered the Library of Congress with his Glock out. He informs bookworm Aubrey with a B Sullivan to move it. She argues with him until bullets fly. He pushes her down to the floor and jumps on her to keep her safe only to have her argue even more until FBI Agent Jack Mitchell says he ought to leave her with the bad guys so her mouth will kill them. To keep her safe Jack has abducted her, but he concludes she must be a wacko as her reactions are all wrong; too logical and calm as she insists he kidnapped kidnapping her and he claims to have taken a bullet to save her life.

As she provides first aid to his wound, Jack explains that she has information on Pablo "the Butcher" Corona, cocaine king of the hemisphere. Aubrey says she is in protective custody, but Jack says no as he is being set up inside the agency to take the fall as his peers believe he is a mole working for Corona; they want him dead just like the thugs want her dead. To survive, she must recall what she knows so they can go public making her no longer a target and proving his innocence. However, as he admires her courage, he realizes one of childhood's enduring lessons is no one messes with the librarian even a psychopathic killer will learn this life tenet.

ALL JACKED UP is an amusing romantic suspense thriller starring a delightful pairing of two souls who are resourceful, do not understand mortality, and leave defeated bad guys all over the place. The chats between the Fed and the Librarian are humorous as she adapts to any scenario with aplomb. While Aubrey uses self-deprecating wit or tearing Jack's hide, fans of lighthearted romps will appreciate their fun bantering while battling to elude the Feds and to keep the Butcher from dining on either of them.

I've read several other books by McCall and this was by far the best. It was fast paced and nonstop action. Loved how argumentative Aubrey was about everything, in a funny way. Even all the hit men and side characters were memorable and unique.

McCall's other books follow the series are decent, not as good as this one. Her last two of the series were horrible though and I couldn't even finished them. They were just really dumb: plot and characters.

So the first few books in McCall's series were worth the read but not the last two.

Loved this book! It was a true romp. The author found just the right blend of mystery, thrills, and comedy. The dialogue was fast, loose, witty and highly entertaining. The individual character development and the development of the relationship between the two main characters was done so well you didn't even realize it was happening. There were a few quirks in the plot, and the resolution was satisfying (I hate those happy/sappy endings). I read it in one sitting. Recommended.

More action/sniping adversaries on the run than romance. OK

From the back of the book:

Since Jack Mitchell barged into her life, librarian Aubrey Sullivan has been abducted at gunpoint, taken on a death-defying car chase, and kissed within an inch of madness. She's starting to think that maybe she should try to shake this overbearing guy.

But Aubrey doesn't realize she's ticked off the biggest drug lord in the western himisphere. It seems that somewhere in her photographic memory is something he wants kept quiet, and he's willing to kill to do it. And Jack can't exactly go to the good guys because, well, suddenly they think he's a bad guy, too.

Now Jack needs Aubrey to help clear his name. If only she'd do what he says, they just might get out of this mess alive. That is if they can keep their hands off each other long enough to think straight...

First book I've read by this author. It was fairly interesting. Some very funny lines throughout. Overall not quite as good as I expected.

At first I thought this book had some fun and action. Then I got really annoyed with the main female character. She just seemed to be clueless and out to annoy everyone.

Also, there was so much action at the beginning and then towards the end it breezes through a few days that I thought would have action but then utimately jumps back into the action.

And the two main characters fall in love but you don't know how because they truly dislike each other and don't understand each other at all.

Not a bad read, just not at the top of my list.
