Al C. (vavoice) - reviewed Jade Darcy and the Affair of Honor (Rehumanization of Jade Darcy, Book 1) on + 158 more book reviews
This is the first of the Jade Darcy series. Jade is the only human on the planet Cablans, and she likes it that way (she thinks). For the past five years, she has worked as a bouncer at Rix's place, an interplanetary eatery catering to all species. And in her spare time, she does some mercenary work, for that is her primary specialty.
Things are going well until two things happen; another human shows up, putting her in a panic. And she takes on a mission that will challenge her ideals as well as start a one-woman interstellar war.
What is she hiding, that another human might threaten? And what burns within her, that she would be willing to take on "The Dominion" alone?
I enjoyed the story, and the colorful characters. There was a little bit too much profanity, though it fit in some places. I am definitely intrigued enough to want to read the second book, which will, hopefully, answer some of the questions that remain from this one.
