Jessie owned the Mercantile store in town. She ran the store and she had 2 little girls. No one ever saw the father and no one ever asked any questions about him either. One day Seth (the children's father) came back to town. This book is about how Seth makes it up to the children and to Jessie for leaving them 8 years before. He is now a Christian and a very different man than he used to be. Will Jessie ever forgive him for leaving her??

Jessie Wheeler owns the mercantile in town. Her husband left her six years ago after some constant fighting, not knowing that she was pregnant with her second child. Seth Redding (her 'husband') is also mentioned in the Yellow Rose Trilogy (A Texas Sky). He comes back claiming to have been changed by faith, but can Jessie believe that he won't leave her again? Lori Wick is the best author of all time, you'd be missing a great story if you didn't read this book (but read 'Cassidy' and 'Sabrina' first!)

My opinion: I was a bit disappointed in this book overall. I have read every book that Lori Wick has ever written and this one just seemed to be lacking. It just didn't have her normal persona. I'm not sure if I can even explain it any better than just to say that it felt a little off and the characters seemed a little forced or stilted. I also noticed a couple of grammatical errors which makes me wonder where the editor was. All of this to say... Although I was not impressed with this book, I will still continue to read every book that Lori puts out. This one will just be put on the list of my least favorites.
Some of Lori's books are the best I have ever read. Perhaps the next one will be better.

Lori is losing her touch, in my opinion.

Jessie owns the town general store and raises her two young daughters alone, but it wasn't always that way. Once she had a husband named Seth. They were very in love, but her need to control everything in her life and his need to be a full partner and share the responsibility of the store and their child, tears them apart. He leaves for eight years not knowing that Jessie is pregnant with their second child. One day, he returns, a changed man. Will Jessie forgive him and allow him into her daughters' lives? Into HER life? Will the Author of the change in Seth also bring about a change in Jessie's life?

This is a gorgeous new gift book. Jessie is the 3rd book in the Big Sky Dreams series by Lori Wick. The storyline is intriguing to me as it hits close to home. My
ex-husband left me after my second child was born, so I can relate to the pain Jessie went through and the trust issues she had to deal with. The author did a great job of detailing the daily struggles...and triumphs of Jessie as she raised her girls alone. I also have 2 daughters and I can relate to her sad story. It is hard to raise children alone.
