This book has some interesting perspectives on the life of Jesus on earth and the world he lived in. It is a quick read with individual break downs of the birth, the miracles, the ministry, death and resurrection. However, I did not care for the author's writing. He makes references to "The Lord of the Rings" movies often in explaining, which I found irritating, actually. And while it has some valid things to ponder-"Jesus is not an American or a Republican or a suburbanite"..."on the subject of culture...today's dominant communication values of niceness, pleasantness, political correctness and all manner of oh-I-am-so-sorry-that's-my-bad sensitivities do not necessarily equate to love, care, and compassion"-it is not, as the title implies-Jesus without Religion-as the author winds up giving a sermon and I felt I was just leaving church having been preached to from the pulpit at the end.
